Have you been fined recently? How did it make you feel. Angry?
I had to take a break from a WIKI and talk about social sharing apps that inform and alert you to potential fines and infringements from speed traps, reed light cameras and parking inspectors.
My 2 favorite apps in this domain are Trapster and Park Patrol .
Living in a country where speed cameras are banned (Australia) does this social app fall between the cracks or is this social alerting in the same category as the speed camera detector. No need to tell me that WA folk are OK to use speed camera detectors. Should everyone should use these apps and say no to revenue raising by state and local governments. Or would this mean an erosion of policing efforts to slow down motorist.
Are these apps in the social interest? Will they push up road fatalities?

Never used one of these.seem pretty cool. I don't really think it will do much to be honest. The same way as the positive effect of speed cameras didn't have as much of an impact as I think policy makes would have wanted.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll be downloading them - prevention is better than the fine. At the very least they keep speeding top of mind to the users - not to dissimilar to speed detectors. As for parking inspectors I would use anything to not pay those revenue raisers...
ReplyDeleteI've downloaded. Any help I can get to not lose more point and or $ I'll take :)
